A Message from Kevin J. Turner, Candidate for the Dulles District School Board Seat
Greetings!
My name is Kevin
J. Turner and I am running for the Dulles District School Board seat in
the November 6, 2007 General Election. I am a Virginia native, who was
educated in the public system. I am committed to putting the families
of the Dulles District and the citizens of Loudoun County first in all
considerations before the School Board. As a father of two young
children living in South Riding for nearly six years, I have a personal
interest in seeking to improve Loudoun County’s public school system.
As
an Associate Partner at IBM Global Business Services, I work with K-12
districts of all sizes throughout the United States. I believe this
experience gives me extraordinary insight into what leading school
systems are doing in growth management, curriculum development, and
technology in the classroom. I will leverage this knowledge to help our
school system solve its most challenging issues. In addition, I bring
the business acumen of an executive and MBA to the School Board, which
I will apply to ensure our school system is a model of efficiency,
sound fiscal management, and citizen-centric, responsible government.
As
Loudoun County continues its rapid growth and transformation, it is
clear that the status quo will not be good enough when it comes to
development / land use decisions, school boundary issues, and strategic
investments in our children’s future. It was Benjamin Franklin who said
“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest” (1756).
Let’s start investing in our children’s future so they are prepared for
the 21st century with a 21st century education.
